Dunya Ensemble and The Boston Camerata European Travellers AND THE OTTOMANS: A concert dedicated to W. A. Mozart in the 250th year of his birth The RISD AUDITORIUM, Providence The Turkish American Cultural Society of RI presented a unique concert performed by the two leading ensembles of the genre. The Boston Camerata and the Dunya Ensemble performed Turkish-Ottoman music transcribed by European travellers to the Ottoman lands. These pieces were later performed in Europe and inspired the musicians of the era to compose major works that we all enjoy today. The concert is a tribute to Mozart in his 250th year of birth. The concert was free and open to the public. Post concert note The concert was a well-attended event with over 250 people in the audience. The music was exhilarating, informative, touching, and of course, highly enjoyable. Below is a message from one person in the audience, which probably speaks for all. Thank you all for coming to this fabulous event. I just wanted to thank you for presenting that FANTASTIC concert yesterday. As a musician and world music fan, I have seen many concerts in my life, but this was one of the best. Much credit to your organization for having not just one but, TWO well -known music groups on the stage and offering so much learning and great music to the public FOR FREE! I especially liked the commentary offered by you and both conductors. Now I am so glad I happened upon the TACSRI website on a rainy day and will definitely be checking in from time to time. Thanks again, Dr. JRS
