Turkish American Cultural Society of Rhode Island (TACS-RI) is a 501 C (3) tax-exempt non-profit organization, dedicated to educating and informing the public about the many dimensions of Turkey, and Turkish heritage in Rhode Island. We are a non political entity, and our efforts are focused on the historical, cultural, sociological, and anthropological aspects of Turkey and Turkish life. You will find a detailed program of our activities which are updated as more information becomes available. The Speaker Series focuses on specific topics and features interesting and highly qualified presenters. The Children's corner will feature the works of children and will present the world through their eyes. The Turkish Heritage Conference, scheduled for April 2006 will bring scholars from different parts of the world with their unique perspectives.
The Turkish-American community in Rhode Island is not as large as its sister heritage members. However, we consider ourselves part of the very fabric of Rhode Island in all paths of life that we lead. We are the bankers, engineers, merchants, entrepreneurs, students, professors, teachers, restaurateurs, hair stylists, doctors, nurses ... We are your neighbors and we are proud to be your neighbors.
This site is here to serve the community. We hope to do this through the quality content we strive to bring to you as well as informing you of special events we organize. We would very much like to see you among us at one of these events. You may also consider being a guest speaker at one of these events. If you have any ideas that you would like to share with us, please contact the special events committee. Your presentation may be a speech, slide show, a movie, in short anything that enriches our understanding of Turkish culture and heritage. Give it some thought.
